The Beretta 92 pistols were developed in Italy by the manufacturer, Armi Pietro Beretta Spa. The original Beretta 92, based on the earlier Beretta model 1951, first entered production in 1976. Model 92 was soon adopted by the Italian Army. Later, the model 92 became the subject for several modifications, including what became the 92FS model.
Model 92F was submitted for USA XM9 Army Pistol Trials in 1985. Adopted by US Military as a M9 pistol (9mm). The 92FS is manufactured both in Italy and in USA by Beretta USA company. It was soon adopted by many other military and law enforcement forces, eventually taking the place of the 1911 in many agencies, which had served as the official sidearm of almost every United States military group for close to a century. The 92FS Beretta features a chrome lined barrel, recurved triggerguard for improved two-hands grip, new grip panels, and trigger bar disconnect safety.
